Rakkase | About Aylin

Aylin"Hosgeldiniz" is one of the most used words in the Turkish language. Anyone who has ever been touch by Turkish culture will know how welcoming and hospitable we Turks are. I was born and raised in Istanbul. I went to High School in Asia and lived in Europe:) I look forward to showing you this wonderful city of two continents.

So "Welcome to rakkase.co.uk"! Og Velkommen, som man siger paa dansk. I hope you are here because you share the same passion about belly dancing and just as fascinated about it as I am. I have recently been a consultant launching Disney Channel in Turkey, and as well as having a family, I am passionate about showing this beautiful dance to as many ladies as possible... And men for that matter. Men are welcome in my classes if the ladies feel comfortable.

I think that I was born dancing! I was born and brought up in Istabul. I went to Primary school in Levent and I studied high school in Erenkoy Kiz Lisesi (Erenkoy Girls High School), where I used to be the lead singer as well. I went to Hacettepe University in Ankara and studied Tourism and right after took an interrail trip to Europe with my dearest friend Ozlem, where I met a nice Dane, got married and moved to Denmark, where I lived for 13 years.

I worked as Claims Manager in TNT Express Worldwide Denmark, as Product Manager in Sultan Travel Denmark and have been a part of the team to start up FedEx in Denmark. I worked in Champions League in 1998 in Istanbul and Norway for the Scandinavian Channel Viasat, TV3 and in the mean while, never stopped dancing!

As long as I remember, I always danced and I always loved it and I always felt the need to share it. When I was very young, 'dansozler' (belly dancers) were considered sex symbols, so my father was never happy about me dancing in public! I was so passionate about it that I would always end up being the only person left dancing wherever there was music, and everyone else would end up watching and cheering. That is of course until my dad would show up :)

This is me at the tender age of 7, giving it my all at a dance competion in Turkey. Clearly trying to copy the Grand Masters of belly dancing. The turning point came when I was 11 years old and I watched the first belly dancer permitted to appear on Turkish television (well covered up!!). This was Grand Master Nesrin Topkapi, revered by belly dancers around the world, and the choreographer of the best Oriental dance shows ever. She is my greatest inspiration. Interview by Gilded Serpent

I lived in Denmark for many years and being from Turkey, I thought I was a good dancer. That was until Louise Frevert - a great oriental dance teacher - discovered me and asked me to attend to her school in Copenhagen. That was when I realised this dance had some great techniques and it looked much more beautiful when you mastered them properly. So thank you Louise..

I have spent many of my evenings practicing ever since, as well as being a single mum and a full time TV producer...

My best dancing moment was to attend to classes by my "dancing hero" Nesrin Topkapi.

I have watched, observed a lot of dancers. I believe we all have our own styles and that is what makes it exciting, interesting and unique. I am making this site for everyone who would like to share the passion of the "Oriental Dance" with me... I hope you will enjoy it....

Thank you for stopping by...
